Alexandria Lacrosse Club History
ALC was founded in the spring of 2003 and became a member of the Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League (NVYLL). The original founders, coaches and players came mainly from the Fort Hunt Youth Lacrosse program which had grown too large for the practice facilities. Fort Hunt was instrumental in helping ALC form and become a member of NVYLL.
NVYLL has 24 clubs spread throughout the northern Virginia region representing over 7,000 boys and girls. ALC holds a seat on the NVYLL Council that provides rules, schedule and everything needed to run a complete season of games for the member organizations. The NVYLL season runs from mid-February through early June with playoffs held for every division except the Under 9 age group.
ALC participates in the NVYLL at each appropriate age level. NVYLL rules are derived from the National Federation of High School rules with variations for each age group to ensure enjoyment, safety and education related to the sport.
